ZANACO F.C record first defeat of the 2014 FAZ/MTN premier league
Lusaka, June 14, ZANIS—Football Association of Zambia FAZ/MTN super league leaders ZANACO today recorded their first defeat of the season after going a goal down by ZESCO United F.C.
ZANIS sports reports that Striker Jackson Mwanza ‘s 37th minute goal was all ZESCO needed to ensure that they collect maximum points in tightly contested week 13 game played at sunset stadium in Lusaka.
And speaking to journalists in a post-match interview, ZANACO Coach Aggrey Chiyangi said he is not disappointed with the 1 nil loss to ZESCO but praised his boys for the efforts made during the entire 90 minutes.
Chiyangi maintained that his team played well and could have won the match but blamed his strikers for missing numerous scoring chances.
He however said he is not worried about recording the first loss of the season saying the team is still intact and looking forward to the upcoming league games.
Meanwhile, his counterpart George Lwandamina described the game against ZANACO as a tough and praised his boys for their fighting spirit through the entire 90 minutes.
Lwandamina also said the win is a wakeup call for his boys to remain focused for the upcoming games and aim at winning the league title.
Other results of the games played today saw Roan United going down to Green Eagles by 3 goals to nil, NAPSA Stars beat Red Arrows 1 nil, while struggling Green Buffaloes managed to beat Nakambala Leopards by a lone goal.
Power Dynamos F.C came from behind to hold Nkana F.C 1 all, with Indeni also drawing 1 all against Konkola Mine Police F.C .
Tomorrow Sunday, Konkola Blades take on National Assembly in Chililabombwe and Kabwe Warrior’s hosts Nchanga Rangers at Godfrey Chitalu stadium in Kabwe.
