A 41-year-old woman of Chief Nyawa in Kazungula district has been brutally murdered by her husband who later took his life by hanging himself in the vicinity of the village.
Both police sources and relatives of the deceased confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kalomo saying the incident happened last weekend following a domestic dispute.
The sources disclosed that the couple were on separation and the wife was living with her parents but decided to fetch her blanket from her matrimonial home.
It was at this point that the husband identified as Paul Mukomokela 40, of Musozya village, murdered his wife, Mary Siamwanza 41 by hitting her with a pounding stick on her head.
The sources further disclosed that the husband later run into a nearby bush with a rope.
It was reported that other villagers chased after him but failed to catch up with him and later found him hanging under a tree.
Cousin of the deceased woman, Jailos Sinkenene, who is also Nyawa chiefdom neighbourhood Chairperson, confirmed the incident which was reported to Zimba police station.
The two have since been buried.
