UPND to hold convention
Lusaka, February 20, ZANIS—–United Party for National Development (UPND) Deputy Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says his party will hold a national convention towards the end of this year to usher in new office bearers.
Mr. Mweetwa said the UPND has been disturbed from holding a national convention because of the continued by-elections which have rocked the country of late.
Speaking to ZANIS in a telephone interview today, Mr. Mweetwa said soon after the Mpongwe and Livingstone by-elections, the UPND will embark on a general assembly which will begin with the election of District Executive Leaders across the country.
He said the District Executive leaders will be charged with the responsibility to supervise the election of ward and constituency leadership across the country.
Mr. Mweetwa said after the elections of the district, constituency and ward levels, the party will then go for provincial and national management elections.
