NATIONAL motor rally champion Ken Mukosa said he has raised $40,000 (about K224,000) towards his budget to buy a new car for the 2014 FIA Africa Rally Championship (ARC).
Mukosa said his aim was to buy a car worth $100,000 (about K560,000) which he hoped to use during ARC.
He believes the new car would help in his resolve to defend the ARC title which Zambia won last year through Jassy Singh.
Mukosa remained optimistic that the shortfall of $60,000 would be raised in time before he embarked on the journey to retain the ARC title for Zambia.
“The car I am using right now is not good enough to compete at the ARC but immediately I purchase the new car I will start serious preparations for the championship,” he said.
Mukosa appealed to the corporate world to come on board and sponsor him ahead of the ARC so that he could gain the necessary exposure.
He said he would also concentrate on local competitions to assist him prepare for the ARC and was also working hard to defend the national title.
Mukosa said he would kick-off the 2014 season by participating in the Chisamba Rally scheduled for February 22 to help him shape up for the championships lined up on the 2014 calendar.
“I am very confident that this year I will still defend the national rally championship. That (winning the national title) will be good for me to prepare for ARC,” he said.
