Mother kills children over social problems
Mongu, December 11, ZANIS—A 21 – year – old woman of Nyengo area in Sikongo district in Western province has been arrested for allegedly knifing her three biological children to death.
Confirming the alleged killing of the three children to ZANIS in an interview today Western province Commissioner of Police Lombe Kamukoshi identified the deceased as Susiku Susiku a male aged 6, Namushi Susiku a female aged 3 years and Kakundu Susiku a female aged 2 months old respectively.
The brutal murder of the innocent children happened on Monday 9th December 2013 when their mother decided to avenge her social problems on them.
It is reported that the trio were stabbed on the necks by their biological mother.
Ms Kamukoshi said the accused identified as Luboni Simoonga was picked and interrogated by the police at Kalabo Police Station on what led to such a brutal killing of her three innocent children.
The police stated that the accused cited financial crisis as the reason for her cruel act saying she was failing to look after her three children properly hence the need to eliminate them.
Ms Kamukoshi said the accused lamented that she was incapable of providing for her three children as she divorced with her husband and was facing financial constraints while her former husband was at the time in Lusaka to unknown address.
The Police Commissioner said the suspect is remanded in police custody and will appear in court soon.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the three deceased are lying in Kalabo District Hospital Mortuary a waiting burial.
