Brave Warriors qualify for COSAFA quarterfinals after thumping Seychelles
Lusaka, July 8th, ZANIS–Namibia has qualified to the quarter finals
of the Confederation of the Southern African Football Association
(COSAFA) Senior Challenge Cup.
ZANIS sports reports from Nkholoma stadium that this was after the Brave Warriors
beat Seychelles by 4 goals to 2 at an exciting encounter played this afternoon at the stadia.
This means that Namibia will now face South Africa who are on-by for
the qualifying group stage matches at the ongoing COSAFA senior
challenge tournament being hosted by Zambia.
Seychelles also known as the Pirates scored first in the 13th minute
through Ives Zialor while Seychelles equalized in the 25th minute
through Sadney Urikhob.
Zialor then made it 2-1 for Seychelles in the 38th minute after
Namibia goal keeper Virgil Vries failed to clear a loose ball just
after the 18 area.
Namibia then added wounds to the Islanders after Ananias Gebhardt
scored the third goal in the 47th minute while Neville Tijiueza
sealed the day for the brave warriors scoring the in the 89th minute.
Both teams wasting numerous scoring chances in the game that was
characterized by poor attendance.
The next game in the group round stage will see Seychelles taking on
fellow islanders Mauritius on Thursday at the same venue.
