Man 29, dies in a road accident

Kasama, June 26, ZANIS….. An employee of the Auditor General’s Office in Kasama has died in a road accident.

Nathan Kaunda, 29, an Assistant Auditor died on the spot yesterday after the car he was driving overturned about 19 km away from Mbala town along the Mbala-Mpulungu Road.

Northern Police Commissioner Mary Chikwanda confirmed the accident to ZANIS in Kasama today.

Ms. Chikwanda said the deceased was driving from Kasama to Mpulungu when he met his fate around 04:30 hours yesterday.

She said the officer, who was driving a BMW saloon car registration number ABG 2613, failed to negotiate a curve along the Mbala-Mpulungu Road resulting in the tragic accident.

Ms. Chikwanda said the body of the deceased is lying in Mbala General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Meanwhile, one person died on spot while four others escaped with minor injuries on Chilubi Island when a police vehicle they were in overturned three times after the driver lost control.

Chilubi District Commissioner Boniface Kamanda confirmed the development to ZANIS today.

Mr. Kamanda said the body of the deceased is lying at Santa Maria Hospital awaiting burial.
