Exodus Boxing Stables Director Anthony Mwamba has disclosed that preparations for the Francis ‘Galagata’ Zulu and Joseph Chingangu fight are progressing well.
In an interview with ZANIS Sports in Lusaka today, Mwamba said the fight will go ahead as scheduled on 24 August this year.
Mwamba however could not give details of the fight and some other logistical arrangments but said he will comment later after today’s consultative meeting with other key stakeholders.
Heavyweight Boxers Francis Zulu, commonly known as “Galagata” and Joseph Chingangu also known as “No Pressure”, will on August 24 clash in a World International Boxing Federation (WIBF)/World Boxing Union (WBU) unification fight in Lusaka.
Mwamba said the 12-round bout between the two long archrivals is aimed at promoting the local heavyweights.
Zulu 38 said he should not be underrated and has vowed to make sure he sends Chingangu 46, into retirement after the August 24 fight.
He said it was high time his rival hangs up his gloves.
But Chingangu expressed confidence that he would knock Zulu out of the ring.
The curtain raisers for this fight are Pythias Chisenga, who takes on Isaac Omari in a WIBF flyweight clash and heavyweight Ngandu Biselele will be up against Boniface Simasiku.
The rest of the fights will be between Nelson Manda and Alfred Kaziwa in a lightweight non-title fight and Amos Temfwa will be up against Amos Kakawila with Abias Silupumbwe taking on Ntumba Mwamba as Maggie Lingililani faces Patience Mastala in a women’s fight
