He squeezed my neck, for refusing to have sex with him

A WOMAN of Kabwe on  Monday came face-to-face with her purported assailant in the Kabwe Magistrate’s Court whom she alleges threatened to kill her for refusing to have sex with him.
When the matter came up for continued trial before magistrate Chimuka Mutafela, Judith Mulenga, 36, testified that on the fateful day around 12:00 hours , she was on her way home from the farm when Clifford Banda allegedly stopped her to ask for direction to the place where Banda Kolwe lives.
“After I gave him directions, I then got on my bicycle to continue my journey home but he attacked and pushed me to the ground,” Ms Mulenga said.
It is alleged that Banda, on October 21 this year in Kabwe, stole a bicycle and cellphone worth K1,050 from Ms Mulenga.
She testified that Banda allegedly squeezed her neck in an attempt to strangle her and reached for a knife from his pocket, which he used to threaten her if she dared to scream for help.
“He asked me if I wanted to die or maybe he should sleep with me,” Ms Mulenga said.
She testified that when Banda heard some people approaching, he allegedly grabbed her bicycle and cellphone before fleeing.
Mr Mutafela adjourned the case to today for continued trial.
