Zambia beat Power Dynamos 2-1 in a training match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Thursday.
The training game saw coach Patrice Beaumelle slot two notable players in unfamiliar roles in a practice match the home-based team and Power scored their respective goals in the second half.
Midfielder Kennedy Mudenda faced his club in an unfamiliar role in central midfield from his usual position on the left wing and he grew in confidence for the 90 minutes he played.
Konkola Blades defensive midfielder Misheck Chaila dropped to central defence where he surprisingly performed with distinction against Power’s attacking duo of Patrick Kabamba and Martin Phiri.
Meanwhile, Zambia took the lead in the the 30th minute through unknown defender Adrian Chama from FAZ Division One club Riflemen.
Chama headed in the ball from close range after Power goalkeeper Becky Bizangi parried midfielder Lubambo Musonda’s corner in the 30th minute.
Zambia extended their lead from the spot in the 54th minute through captain Christopher Katomngo after Evans Kangwa was upended in the box.
Power’s consolation goal also came from the spot after Roderick Kabwe handled the ball in the 64th minute before Patrick Kabamba stepped up to convert the resultant penalty.
Zambia are in camp preparing for next Wednesday’s friendly against The Uganda Cranes at the same venue.
