A 58 year old man identified as Simate Sawasipa is nursing serious wounds in Lukulu District Hospital after being axed by unknown people.
Speaking from his hospital bed in an interview today, Simate Sawasipa said that unknown people attacked on his way back from his farm across the Zambezi River in Mitete District of Western Province on Sunday night.
Mr. Sawasipa said he went to check on his cattle around midnight when the two men attached him with an axe and a knife.
He said two of the assailants hacked him in the head and neck with an axe saying he however managed to rescue himself when he grabbed an axe from one of them which made both criminals run away.
Meanwhile Lukulu District Promotions Officer Mark Mutozi said the victim sustained deep cuts in the neck and in his head saying he is in pain.
Mr Mutozi described the patient to be in severe pain but out of danger.
The patient is currently receiving treatment in Lukulu District Hospital and the case has since been reported to Lukulu Police Station.
