Zambezi FM Radio journalist pleads not guilty

A DISC jockey and journalist working for Zambezi FM Radio Station in Livingstone has pleaded not guilty to one count of alleged corrupt practices involving K4, 000.
Daniel Anakene, 39, of house number DNB 111, Dambwa North, pleaded not guilty yesterday when he appeared before Livingstone Resident Magistrate Chinkashi Chilingala.
Anakene has been charged with one count of corrupt practices with a public officer contrary to section 19 (2) as read with section 66 of the Anti-Corruption Act number 3 of 2012 of the Laws of Zambia.
Details are that between November 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 in Livingstone, Anakene corruptly offered K 4,000 to Livingstone Town Clerk Vivian Chikoti as an inducement for her to allocate him a piece of land in Livingstone, a matter or transaction that concerns Livingstone City Council, a public body.
Anakene was arrested on February 6, 2014 and later released on police bond.
Magistrate Chilingala has since set   April 2, 2014 for commencement of trial.
