KASAMA Central member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba says he is adequately prepared to face the police today following his summoning for interrogation.
Both Mr Mwamba and police spokesperson Charity Munganga-Chanda confirmed in separate interviews in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Mwamba will be interviewed by police today.
Mrs Chanda said Mr Mwamba will appear before police officers at 14:00 hours at Woodlands Police Station in Lusaka.
She said Mr Mwamba will be interrogated in connection with the same issues his daughter Sibongile was questioned for last week.
“He [Mr Mwamba] is coming to us tomorrow [Monday], although I have not been in touch with officers handling that issue,” Mrs Chanda said.
Mrs Chanda said Mr Mwamba has been summoned as one of the directors of Arizona Marketing and Distribution.
Mr Mwamba, who recently resigned as Minister of Defence, said he does not know why he has been summoned.
“Yes, I am ready and prepared to meet them tomorrow [Monday], but I don’t know the case they [Police] are calling me for,”Mr Mwamba said.
He alleged that his summoning by police is politically-motivated.
Last Tuesday, police questioned Sibongile, at Zambia Police Service headquarters over the tender to supply wooden poles to Zesco.
Ms Mwamba was accompanied to Zambia Police Service headquarters by her lawyers Makebi Zulu and Jonas Zimba.
Mrs Chanda said then that Ms Mwamba was one of the directors of Arizona Marketing and Distributors and the summoning was in connection with nine-metre, 10-metre and 12-metre wooden poles, which were supposed to be supplied to Zesco on a one-year running contract.
