FORMER Luapula Province minister and Local Government deputy minister in the MMD administration Chrispin Musosha has resigned from the former ruling party to join the Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr Musosha, who is also former MMD Mansa Central member of parliament (MP), has further disclosed that President Michael Sata wants him to stand on the PF ticket during the forthcoming by-election in his former constituency following the death of area parliamentarian Kennedy Sakeni.

Mr Musosha announced his resignation from the former ruling party in Mansa on Friday during a public rally held at Muchinka grounds where he and 32 other MMD members also surrendered their membership cards to Vice-President Guy Scott.

During the rally, Dr Scott, who was in Luapula to inspect development projects, informed the crowd that Mr Musosha had something important to tell them.

Ba Musosha iseni kuno mukwai (Mr Musosha please come here),” Dr Scott said as he beckoned Mr Musosha to the podium.

“From today, Musosha has stopped being MMD. I have joined the PF. The reason is that President Sata invited me to come and stand in Mansa Central,” Mr Musosha told the cheering crowd as he led the other defectors in surrendering their cards to Dr Scott.

In welcoming the defectors, Dr Scott said people ditching the opposition parties to join the PF were being attracted by the ruling party’s continued fulfillment of its election promises and development manifesto.

Dr Scott, who also met with chiefs in the area, returns to Lusaka today.
