Govt pledges employment creation
Lusaka, July 19,2013,ZANIS—Government has pledged to continue creating employment opportunities that will enable personal development of citizens.
Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education Minister John Phiri says government is committed to ensuring that policies translate into creation of decent employment and respect for international labour standards.
Dr Phiri affirmed that government will ensure that Zambian workers have the right to good remuneration and conditions of service.
The Minister said this in a speech read on his behalf by his permanent secretary Chishimba Nkosha during the ministry of education Labour Day awards in Lusaka today.
Dr Phiri has since implored the staff in his ministry to work hard saying government wants an improved work culture from the public service in order to attain the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) on education.
The ministry presented 28 awards to deserving employees in three categories which included the Most improved, the Most Hardworking, and the Most honest.
Among the recipients of the awards which included stoves, fridges , Television sets, and Home theatres were Mutinta Botha, Hildah Musowe, and Foster Tembo for most hardworking, most improved, and most Honest employee respectively.
