46 volunteer counsellors trained in Muchinga

Chinsali, July 19, ZANIS —–The Department of Community Development Mother and Child (CDMC) in Chinsali district in Muchinga province has trained over 46 Voluntary Community Based Distributors (CBDs) in counselling and dissemination of information on Family Planning.


Speaking in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) yesterday, Community Development Mother and Child Assistant, Alexander Banda said the CBDs have been trained in scaling up Family Planning Programme in Zambia which is yet to be launched in the province.


Mr Banda said the objective of the five day training workshop of CBDs is to ensure that sustainable Family Planning is attained and highly promoted in Zambia.


The CDMC Assistant who could not disclose the amount of money involved in the training of the CBDs said the workshop has been funded by a British empire called UKA with the support of the Zambian government.


Mr Banda echoed that the department has also embarked on massive sensitization campaign on the importance of Family planning in the community.


He said the department of Community Development Mother and Child is working with a number of stakeholders such as village head men and community health workers among other stakeholders to create awareness on scaling up Family Planning methods.


Mr Banda said scaling up Family Planning in the country is vital in order to protect and prolong the life span of the female fork and reduce on the number of unplanned pregnancies.
