Government says its efforts to decontrol and depoliticize the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) and other public media in the country , are bearing fruit.
And ZNBC Director General Chibamba Kanyama disclosed the duo cast transmitter was funded by government at a total cost of 3.5 million kwacha.
Chief Government Spokesperson Kennedy Sakeni expressed delight that professionalism, objectivity, and editorial independence have been restored to public media.
Mr. Sakeni who is also Chief government spokesperson has noted that ZNBC’s programming and news bulletins are now a marvel to listen to and watch.
The installation of the new television transmitter will enhance the public’s access to information, which he said is a pre-requisite for social economic development.
The minister pledged government’s continued support to ZNBC and other public media institutions in their quest to deliver better services to the Zambian people.
And ZNBC Director General Chibamba Kanyama disclosed the duo cast transmitter was funded by government at a total cost of 3.5 million kwacha.
Mr. Kanyama explained that the duo transmitter supports both analogue and digital transmission.
He disclosed that the new transmitter will provide television signal to Lusaka district and surrounding areas.
He revealed that more duo cast transmitters are yet to be installed in other areas in the country, to improve television signal.
The ZNBC Director General has advised the general public to tune to channel 27 with their Ultra High Frequency (UHF) antennas pointed towards mass media complex to access the ZNBC signal through the new duo cast transmitter.
Mr. Kanyama however said it will take a period of two months for the new transmitter to be fully operational.
