Kenya this afternoon brightened their chances of qualifying to the quarter finals of the ongoing Confederation of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) senior challenge cup after beating Swaziland 2-0.
The Stars beat Swaziland 2-0 to lead Group B with four points in a thrilling encounter played yesterday afternoon at Arthur Davis stadium in Kitwe.
ZANIS Sports reports that a goal in each 45 minutes half of the game was all Kenya needed to collect full points and ensure they consolidate their chances of qualifying to the quarter finals of the COSAFA senior challenge cup.
Kenya put more pressure on the King Shields of Swaziland who also put up a gallant fight but failed to find the back of the net.
At the same venue, Botswana squandered their chances of collecting full point’s allowing Lesotho to come three times from behind to hold them 3 all.
MeawhJerome Ramatlhakwana was the hero of the day after scoring a hat trick for Botswana in the 5th, 52th and 78thminutes.
However, Lesotho responded three times through a penalty scored in the 58th minute by Mokhahlane Ralekotisending sending Botswana goalie Noah Maposa in the wrong direction
Lesotho then scored through Nkau Lerotholi in the 68th minute and sealed the day in the 90thminute through a hard fought for goal.
After two matches played so far, Kenya tops Group B with 4 points while Botswana and Lesotho now have two points each while Swaziland remains at the bottom of the Group with only a point.
On Thursday, Kenya will take on Botswana at Nkana stadium in Kitwe while Lesotho will take on Swaziland at Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka in their last game of Group B.
The winner of Group B will face Angola in the quarter finals that will be played at Nkana stadium in Kitwe on the 14th July 2013.
