CCZ thanks govt. for putting up street lights in Siavonga
Siavonga, June 27, ZANIS………..Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has thanked government for putting up street lights in Siavonga.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS this morning, outgoing CCZ social and economic justice, Siavonga Chairperson Edwin Chikonga said he was impressed with the manner the PF government was bringing development to Siavonga district.
He said the PF government was a listening government which was in the hurry and committed to developing Siavonga.
Pastor Chikonga said the street lights were not only beneficial for beautifying the township but also for attracting the tourists, seeing that the area was a tourist destination.
He also commended government for installing a new water pump for Mitcho compound that has improved the water supply in the area.
‘’ As CCZ in Siavonga district we greatly appreciate all efforts government is putting in place in order to improve the lives of the poor people in the area,’’ he said.
Pastor Chikonga however urged government to improve the sanitation problem in Mitcho.
‘’ CCZ is happy that the community is enjoying the abundance of water now but the sewer system in the area needs urgent attention to prevent diarrhea cases. There is a bad smell and sewer water is running everywhere in the area.’’ he said.
