Sata urges Feira constituency residents to vote for PF candidate

Luangwa, June 15, ZANIS —— President Michael Sata has asked the people of Feira constituency in Luangwa district to vote for a PF candidate Patrick Ngoma in the forthcoming parliamentary by elections.

And the National Restoration Party (NRP) President Cosmo Mumba says the PF has the capacity to develop Luangwa as opposed to the opposition political parties that are also in the area promising that they will develop the area once given Feira seat.

President Sata said government has an ambitious program of constructing roads, schools, health centres and many other pieces of infrastructure in the area.

The president said development can only be implemented effectively if the people worked closely with his government by electing a PF Member of Parliament.

Mr Sata said apart from the 90 km Luangwa Boma-Great East road which is being constructed, government will tar two more roads, among them is the Luangwa-Mtendere road which will be the shortest road from Luangwa to Lusaka town.

He also promised to take electricity from the town to compounds where people live saying development should not only be concentrated in town.

The Head of State also urged his candidate Mr Ngoma to take care of the children who he said are the future leaders of the country.

The President made both Mr Ngoma and the PF losing candidate in the 2011 parliamentary elections kneel down before the electorates to ask for votes and apologise for whatever wrongs they committed in the past.

And NRP President Cosmo Mumba called on the people of Feira to rally behind the PF candidate if they are to see development in the area.

Dr Mumba said the opposition political parties including his party cannot win an election not even in 2016 because the PF has laid a strong foundation.

He said in 2016, his party will come out second from the PF, followed by FDD, NAREP and UNIP while the MMD and UPND might not get any vote.

Dr Mumba accused ABZ President Fr Frank Bwalya of having organised his party cadres on the Copperbelt to pour alcohol on him at a named radio station so as to attract media attention because he had run out of ideas.

Meanwhile Chief Mpuka has asked government to quickly resolve animal-human conflict that has long existed in the valleys.

The traditional leader has also called on President Sata to establish irrigation schemes to address the challenge of food shortage.

He further appealed to the president to create industries so that youths in the chiefdom can be employed.

President Sata addressed three political meeting at Luangwa grounds, Mwanvu Secondary school and at Kaunda school grounds.

The president was in Feira constituency to drum up support for the PF candidate Patrick Ngoma in the forthcoming by election.

Hundreds of people in Feira constituency turned up at the rallies.

The seat is also being contested by the opposition MMD, UPND, NAREP and UNIP candidates fell vacant after Mr Ngoma of the MMD ditched the former ruling party to join the ruling PF on whose ticket he is re-contesting the same seat.

President Sata returned to Lusaka after completion of his business schedule.
