Vubwi lacking adequate clean water
Vubwi, June 11, 2013, ZANIS…Over 42 villages in Zozwe area in Vubwi
district have poor access to safe and adequate water forcing them to
share water points with animals.
Area councilor Raphael Mboa said most villages in the area lack water
points adding that people draw water from a stream which is also the
source of water for domestic animals.
Mr Mbao told ZANIS in an interview that the situation was inhuman and also
posed a health threat to the people.
He noted that the area has for a long time had no borehole, saying
people have lived without improved access to drinking water.
Mr Mbao however called on government to ensure that people have access
to safe drinking water in line with Millennium Developmental Goal
(MDG) number seven .
And Vubwi District Commissioner Velenasi Moyo said plans are
underway to drill bore holes in some parts of the district.
Ms Moyo said some points have already been identified for putting up
the boreholes in the area adding that the declaration of Vubwi as a district will
bring more development to the area.
She however assured villagers that government is committed to ensuring
that people have access to safe and clean water.
