-Vubwi District commissioner (DC) in Eastern Province, Velenace Moyo, says works on the Chipata-Vubwi road will commence soon.
Ms Moyo says the contractor, China Jiang xi Engineering Company, has started mobilizing to move to the site following the completion of grading the road by Rural Roads Unit (RRU).
She disclosed this in Zozwe area in the newly created Vubwi district where Deputy Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications, Panji Kaunda, addressed residents.
She stated that the district had several developmental projects running in the Ministry of Education under the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) such as the construction of a 1×2 classroom block at Zozwe Primary School at a total cost of KR 40,000.
Ms Moyo further noted another construction of a 1×2 classroom block at Chigwe Primary School at KR35, 000 and construction of two staff houses at Chipanje Primary School.
“These are among the many developments under the Ministry of Education taking place in the district since it was declared. KR 11,758 will be spent to construct a 1×2 classroom block at Chankhandwe Basic School,’’ she added.
The DC further said KR 20,518 would be spent to construct a health post in Mzigawa area to ensure that health services were close to the people.
She, however, disclosed that six storage sheds with a loading capacity of 800×50 kg bags have been constructed in all the agricultural camps in the district.
The DC has assured the people of Vubwi that basic services and infrastructure such as roads, clinics and schools among others are given priority in the development agenda of Vubwi district.
