Lundazi Registration office to undergo renovations

Lundazi, May 22, ZANIS ——– Government through the Ministry of Home Affairs has embarked on rehabilitation of dilapidated offices of Citizenship and National Registration in Lundazi district.

Lundazi District Commissioner Janet Mvula disclosed this to ZANIS in Lundazi saying government has since contracted a Lusaka based contractor and a total budget of K127, 000 rebased has been released.

Ms Mvula named the a Lusaka based contractor as H and L Investment Limited.

She said the contractor has already moved to the site and is scheduled to undertake the rehabilitation exercise for a period of one month.

The District Commissioner said the contractor initially was supposed to commence work on 5th May 2013 but government delayed to pay the contractor his 30 percent initial payment as per agreement. 

She disclosed that scopes of works includes bricks works, construction of  1 x double water borne toilet, painting and decoration, electrical  installation, office furniture, carpentry works and  fixing of floor tiles.

ZANIS in Lundazi report that on 28th March 2013 Minister of Home Affairs Edgar Lungu was surprised to found officers of the Citizenship and National Registration office sitting on stools while clients were squatting on the floor to be served, this forced Mr Lungu to immediately direct the Eastern province Permanent Secretary to facilitate the renovation of the offices.
