Kansanshi Mine donates to schools in Solwezi
Solwezi, May 8, ZANIS ——— Kansanshi Mining Plc in Solwezi district has reiterated its commitment to supplementing government efforts in the provision of quality education for sustainable national growth.
Kansanshi Mining Plc Assistant General Manager Allan Delaney says his company passionately believes that quality education delivery is an essential tool in building a strong foundation for national growth.
He was speaking in Solwezi today when the mining company donated 17,300 English, Mathematics and Science text books for Grade three to seven to 15 basic schools who are under the Kansanshi education quality improvement programme at a cost of KR583, 500.
Mr Delaney said education is one of the most enduring legacies any parent and government can leave behind in a community, adding that it can only confer these benefits if it is qualitable where children are sufficiently literate, enumerate and can apply knowledge to solve problems in society.
He said the mining company has another program in place in partnership with USAID Zambia called “Read To Success” through which it shall channel a further KR108, 000 to provide literacy materials for grades one and two to all basic schools in Solwezi district.
Speaking at the same function North-Western Province Permanent Secretary, Augustine Seyuba commended the mining company for its commitment to improving the quality of education in the province.
Mr Seyuba expressed hope that the donation will go a long way in improving learner performance and assured the mining company of total support to ensure that a well motivated cadre of teachers in the province is created.
