Lusaka Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe yesterday paid an impromptu visit to Chingwere first level hospital in Matero constituency to familiarize himself with the challenges the institution is facing.
Mr. Sikazwe visited some wards and the mortuary at the hospital and urged management to seek dialogue with government whenever the institution was facing challenges.
He said he was happy with the way the officer in charge of the hospital, Dr. Gabriel Ngongo, was running the institution where all the workers put in their best in their work.
Mr. Sikazwe said Chingwere hospital was able to deliver quality services to the patients and other clients because of the good management.
And Dr. Ngongo bemoaned the lack of bed space at the hospital.
He said the hospital has been a first level hospital since 2011 but it has not met the standards of being a first level health institution because it has not been equipped with modern equipment.
Dr. Ngongo said there was need to improve equipment and staffing at the first level hospital because the number of patients was increasing on a daily basis.
