Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde has reiterated government’s commitment to providing quality health care services as close to the communities as possible.

Speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Western province minister Obvious Mwaliteta in Mongu today, Dr. Kasonde said the provision of quality health services was not farfetched because government will do it through partnering with the international donor community.

He explained that partnering with the donor community will greatly assist in strengthen specialist health care services which are offered to the public.

Dr. Kasonde said the Patriotic Front (PF) government was winning a lot of donor confidence which is needed in strengthening health care provision.

He said government was witnessing a return of donor confidence which was eroded in the previous administration.

And Western province minister Obvious Mwaliteta has said the people of Western province were happy with the level of development which the region has experienced since the PF came into office.

Mr. Mwaliteta said the people of Western province were appreciating government’s efforts to better their livelihood.

He disclosed that government has embarked on an ambitious programme to rehabilitate infrastructure in the province.

Meanwhile, Vice President Guy Scott is today expected in Mongu to officially commission the first ever eye department at Lewanika General Hospital which was constructed with the help of the Norwegian government.

Mr. Mwaliteta said once the eye clinic is commissioned, the people of Western province will have quality access to eye care treatment.
