The Zambia Squash Association (ZSA) has a shortfall of KR20,000 (K20 million) to host this year’s Zambia Junior closed squash championship scheduled for the April 13 and 14.
ZSA President Norema Chiteba said out of the required KR 30,000, her association has only raised KR 10,000 from last weekend’s squash tournament which was held at the Mulungushi service club in Lusaka.
Chiteba was speaking to ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today and appealed to the corporate world to come on board and financially assist ZSA to stage the tournament.
“We are appealing to the corporate world to come to our aid to enable ZSA stage the Junior tournament. We need all the support we can get. “ She said.
Chiteba also disclosed that her association will this year stage the junior squash development programme aimed at recruiting new junior squash players in the country.
Meanwhile, Chiteba has disclosed that Nipa Bwalya was the winner of a return air ticket to Johannesburg at last weekend’s squash tournament held in Lusaka.
Runner up Jeff Musonda won a Single view decoder with one month’s subscription, while Chengo Chintu and Grant Kilambe won a KR550 gift voucher and a Mini Home Theatre respectively.
Chiteba thanked South African Airways, Multichoice Zambia and Chamb Investments for the sponsorship and the prizes.
Strange that these games and associations have loaded members who know the needs but don't put down their own cash!! They need to know their limits and set sensible targets or budgets than running into the same problems year in year out.
