Kazungula residents approve CDF for purchasing of earth-moving equipment

——The Kazungula District Constituency Development Funds committee has approved the purchasing of earth-moving equipments from the 2012 Constituency Development Fund allocation.

 

Kazungula District Council Secretary, Raphael Zulu, revealed the approval when he presented his report to the ordinary council meeting held last Friday at Kazungula District Council Chambers.

 

Mr Zulu said the same was appraised by the Planning sub- committee and was approved by the District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC).

 

He said the equipments to be purchased are one unit Caterpillar Grader 120g and one unit Daf Steel Body Tipper Truck.

 

Others are one unit Site Master front-end loader, one unit water Bowser crane truck and one unit Road Compactor Double Drum.

 

The Council Secretary added that the total amount of KR 1, 200, 000 was approved to go towards the purchasing of the equipments.

 

Meanwhile, councillors have welcomed the decision by the CDF committee to approve the purchasing of the earth-moving equipments for the district.

 

Sikaunzwe ward councillor, Edmark Ilyamupu, and his Sekute ward counterpart, Lackson Kamwi Inambao, said once procured, the equipments will go a long way in addressing the challenges of poor road network in the district.

 

Meanwhile, Councillor Ilyamupu and Steven Sihoka, a local community representative, have been appointed to sit on the reconstituted Kazungula Education Board.

 

Kazungula District Council Secretary, Raphael Zulu, said there was need to appoint one councillor and one prominent member of the community to sit on the board for the next tenure of office to represent the council and the local community respectively.

 

Mr Zulu clarified that the two were appointed after a consultation with the council chairman, Elias Siamibila.
