Two die in Kalomo road accident
Kalomo, March 19, 2013, ZANIS – Two people have died on the spot in a head-on collision involving two trucks along the great north road at Kalomo river bridge in the southern province.
The accident happened in the early hours of today leaving one person admitted in Kalomo district hospital.
Police sources in Kalomo confirmed the road traffic accident to ZANIS today and named both the deceased of Kabwe as Gershom Musonda, 28 of house number 16 new ngungu compound who was driving the truck and his passenger Eugene Luwo, 38, of shamabanse compound .
Police said a truck registration number ABX 4004 towing two trailers towards the northern direction collided with a freight liner registration number BZ 19 RT GPwhich was coming from the northern direction.
Police sources said the freight liner was being driven by Madzinga Musa, 38 of house no. 6755 of Glen view, Harare Zimbabwe and a passenger identified as Rainforn Ndeketeya of Nagoli C.
Gershom Musonda died on the spot along with his passenger Euguine Luwo 24, of Shamabanse compound also of Kabwe after their truck hit the on- coming vehicle and lost control before overturning on the bridge and plunged into Kalomo river.
The bodies of the deceased are in Kalomo district hospital while the extensively mangled truck has been towed to Kalomo police station.
