–Government has procured brand new graders for Southern Province at a cost of KR3.2 million to help improve rural road infrastructure.
The two graders were handed over to the provincial administration during a ceremony in Choma today by Barlow World Equipment.
The two graders that were received by Provincial Local Government Officer, Alex Bwalya, on behalf of the provincial administration, will be under the custody of the Rural Roads Unit (RRU).
Mr Bwalya, who received the graders on behalf of Provincial Permanent Secretary, Chileshe Mulenga, said the equipment was procured by the provincial administration under its 2012 budgetary allocation.
Thanking the Patriotic front (PF) government for its commitment to release the funds for road infrastructural development, Mr Bwalya said the machinery will be used on rural road rehabilitations.
“This year, the provincial administration has again budgeted for two more graders and the PF government remains committed to providing good roads to the people,” Mr Bwalya.
And Barlow World sales representative, Jeff Sitali, assured the provincial administration that his company will not end at supplying the equipment alone but will continue rendering after-sale services.
Mr Sitali said the equipment supplied is highly reliable, durable and suitable for the area.
“We do not just believe in selling equipment but also offering after sale support,” he said.
He said Barlow World Equipment will provide the Rural Roads Unit with all the technical support it needs.
The ceremony was attended by, among others, District Commissioner, Golden Nyambe, provincial and district heads of government departments and Patriotic Front officials led by district chairman, Felix Chilufya.
