2,000 Chinsali schools in KR6.5 million upgrade boost

Chinsali, March 15, 2013, ZANIS…Government has released a total of KR 6.5 million for the upgrading of community schools to fully fledged primary schools.

Muchinga Province permanent secretary Charles Sipanje disclosed this in Chinsali yesterday when Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Rowland Msiska paid a courtesy call on him at his office.

Mr. Sipanje said a total of 2,000 community schools will be upgraded in the entire province in the next few months.

He said it is the policy of the Patriotic Front (PF) government to phase out all community schools in the country adding .

Mr Sipanje added that the government is committed to improving the education standards in the country and one of the measures taken is to give quality education to the pupils.

The provincial permanent secretary has also disclosed that a total KR64 million has been released to the province for the improvement of the water reticulation system in Chinsali and Nakonde distrcits.

Mr. Sipanje said the project in Nakonde under the ministry of Local Government and Housing has since taken off while the Chinsali one is scheduled to commence  next week.

And Secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Rowland Msiska said he was impressed with the development taking place in Chinsali district, the provincial headquarter of the new province.

Dr. Msiska who is accompanied by his permanent secretary Anna Mwewa and other senior officials said he is impressed that officers sent to the province to take up various positions are committed to ensuring that it takes off.

And addressing civil servants in the council chamber later in the day, Dr. Msiska called on the workers to change their work culture.

Dr. Msiska said the problems facing the civil service is not lack of capacity but attitude towards work adding that the workers should always strive to deliver quality service to the public.

He said he will be visiting the province at least once in very quarter to ensure delivery of services in various sectors is enhanced.

Dr. Msikska will visit all the distrcits in Muchinga Province to check on developmental projects and programmes being implemented.
