A 23 year old man of Monze district in
Southern province has committed suicide after axing another man.
Police Public Relations Officer Elizabeth Kanjela confirmed the
incident in a statement to ZANIS in Lusaka today.
Ms. Kanjela said the incident happened yesterday around 09:00 hours
at farm number 44 Kayuni settlement when Nchimunya Muzunga axed
Washen Ngandu aged 32, who he accused of being involved in an
intimate relationship with his wife.
She explained that the victim sustained a deep cut and fell
unconscious, causing panic in Nchimunya who later committed suicide by
hanging himself.
Ms Kanjela said the victim whose condition has been described as
stable is admitted to Monze District Hospital Intensive Care Unit and
that the deceased’s’ body is lying in Monze district hospital mortuary
awaiting post-mortem.
Meanwhile, a 46 year old woman of Lusaka’s Chawama compound has died
on the spot after a big stone fell on her.
Ms. Kanjela disclosed that the accident occurred this morning around
08:00 hours in Kuku compound when Elisa Mwanakanda was excavating
stones from one the ditches in Ngwenya area when one of the stones
fell on her.
The woman died on the spot and her body has since been retrieved and
taken to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary awaiting
post-mortem.
