Kabompo district adequately prepared for women’s day
Kabompo, March 7, ZANIS ——– Jubilant women from all walks of life in Kabompo district have been mobilized to celebrate the International Women`s Day in style with the popular `makishi` dancers and amazing sounds of the ` Nkoya malimba` musical instruments at Kabompo Secondary school tomorrow.
Kabompo District Commissioner Dennis Kanyakula confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kabompo today.
Mr Kanyakula said about KR17,000 has been estimated to be sourced from business houses, government departments, faith based organizations and individuals who have made pledges towards this year`s International Women`s Day commemorations in Kabompo district.
Mr Kanyakula said the district organizing committee had chosen Kabompo secondary school assembly hall for the international women`s day commemoration with the theme ‘ The Gender Agenda Gaining Momentum,’ because it had a capacity of about 2,000 people who are expected to be sensitized on the importance of gender equality in Zambia.
He said there will be talks on business, health and career accompanied with choral music, Bible reading, poems, sketches traditional and makishi dances in the morning and soccer between women and men ‘ madalas’ in the afternoon.
