Rainstorm leaves one dead in Samfya District
Samfya, February 26, 2013, ZANIS— Villagers of Chilumba area in Samfya district have recovered a body of a man who is believed to be a fisherman of the same area.
The Villagers have also searched the deceased man’s counterpart who had accompanied him on a fishing expedition.
This was after a severe storm which last night hit Lake Bangweulu in which the canoe the duo were in is believed to have capsized in which one person drowned and another is feared dead following the rough weather.
A check at the lake shore by ZANIS found the recovery exercise being undertaken by the villagers.
The body of the late Kelvin Wanshingwa 29, of Chilumba village was recovered this morning while the search for Ngosa Tolomeo 30 also of the same village is ongoing.
In an interview with ZANIS in Samfya, Jennipher Kunda an elder sister to said that the duo went fishing yesterday but did not report back the following day after a heavy down pour.
There are so many needless accidents in Zambia weather by road or water, I have had close friends die just in the past three weeks.
Don't we have radio stations to notify fishermen of oncoming storms?
