Kabwe DC hands over equipment to 3 youth entrepreneurship groups
Kabwe, February 16, ZANIS —Kabwe District Commissioner (DC) Patrick Chishala has handed over assorted equipment worth over K59, 900 to three selected youth groups in Kabwe.
The equipment was purchased from the youth development fund (YDF).
Mr. Chishala said the purchase of the equipment was a confirmation of government’s commitment to promoting youth oriented entrepreneurship development which will create jobs and wealth.
He said government was committed to providing resources to youths for them to actively participate in national and socio-economic development.
The three selected youth groups that received equipment are Ngungu Youth Resource Centre, Pamodzi Youth Group of Muwowo and Generation Transformation Youth Group of Nakoli.
Each group received two hammer mills worth KR17, 927 each and a power generator set worth over KR24, 000.
And Mr. Chishala has disclosed that government has provided equipment which will be distributed to 35 women’s groups in Kabwe district.
He said his office and other stakeholders will randomly monitor the usage of the equipment that has been distributed to various groups.
Meanwhile, Bwacha Member of Parliament (MP) in Kabwe, Sydney Mushanga said the provision of equipment was a litmus test to prospective projects.
Mr. Mushanga implored recipients of the equipment to take care of it and urged them to specifically use it for its intended purpose.
And a representative of the youth groups Cuthbert Phiri lauded government for empowering young people through such lucrative ventures.
