Govt to sink 40 bore holes in Mongu
Mongu, February 8th, 2013, ZANIS — Government says it will sink 40 boreholes and rehabilitate 40 already existing boreholes in Mongu District.
Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister of local government Mr. Folly Tembo said the project is aimed at improving water supply in the area.
ZANIS reports that the deputy minister said this when during a meeting held at Mongu District Council chambers, today.
He tasked the area Town Clerk Enock Kandingwa to effectively manage the project and ensure that he request for funds to construct new council infrastructure.
Mr. Tembo, who is currently on a familiarisation tour of Western Province, closed that Mongu district has been earmarked in the first Phase of the decentralisation policy programme.
The minister, who is also Nyimba constituency area Member of Parliament, noted that the PF government is committed at making a landmark in the fostering of development.
He said funds have been released in the 2013 national budget to upgrade markets and tar mark all roads leading to bus stations in Mongu district.
Mr. Tembo urged council workers to get serious with their work especially now that they are under government.
