Zambia Presidential petition dismissed

The Constitutional Court has dismissed the presidential petition filed by UPND President Hakainde Hichilema challenging the declaration of president-elect Edgar Lungu as winner of the August 11 presidential election.

The petition was dismissed by a majority of three of the five judges this morning.
The Court ruled that it does not have the jurisdiction to hear the petition after the expiry of the 14 days stipulated in the constitution.
