Atanga defection irrelevant, she left with her husband only- Chama

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary-general Davies Chama says former deputy secretary-general Bridget Atanga is not a political factor and that she left the ruling party way before the January 20, 2015 presidential election.
Mr Chama said in an interview yesterday that Mrs Atanga left the PF way before the January 20 presidential election which President Lungu won.
Mr Chama was reacting to Mrs Atanga and her husband Professor Muyenga Atanga’s defection to the United Party for National Development (UPND) yesterday.
“Mrs Atanga had no following in the PF. In fact she left with her husband only,” Mr Chama said.
He said Mrs Atanga was failing to cross over to the opposition UPND because her husband was the managing director at Zambia Railways Limited.
“So Mrs Atanga was not our member at the time of her defection to UPND,” Mr Chama said.
Mrs Atanga, along with Prof Atanga, yesterday joined the UPND.
