A local court in Ndola has heard how a 31-year old man of new Kaloko left his wife because she was untidy.
Mutale Musonda allegedly abandoned his wife because she disobeyed him by not keeping their home clean like he instructed her.
This is in a case where Elana Phiri 23, sued Musonda for divorce after irreconcilable disputes in their marriage.
Facts before court were that the couple started having problems in 2013 when Musonda told the wife that he wanted to marry another woman.
Phiri submitted before court that Musonda her husband changed from the time they shifted in their newly built home in 2013.
She said in 2014 she found a message in her husband’s cell phone sending airtime to another woman named Majory.
Phiri narrated that she then decided to phone Majory who told her that her husband used to tell her that their marriage was over.
“She told me that my husband was the one who was even paying for her rentals in Luanshya,” she said.
In defense, Musonda accepted that he wanted another woman but he was not in a relationship yet like his wife claimed.
“I never expected to live the way I lived with her,” he said.
He claims that the main reason why he left his wife is because she was untidy.
Musonda said he tried talking to Phiri’s relatives but there was no change in her behavior adding that he also took her to her parent’s house so that she could be taught how to keep her home but her parents never helped hence i decided to leave her.
In passing judgment Local senior magistrate Kaala Nyambe granted divorce and ordered Musonda to compensate Phiri with K6, 000 to be paid in installment of K500 after 30 days then K200 thereafter.
Musonda and Phiri got married in 2008 and have two (2) children together.
Meanwhile, the Local Court Senior Magistrate advised youths not to misuse marriages in the name of love as a lot of people have lost their lives through diseases like HIV and AIDS.
