Solwezi police nab fraudster

–Police in Solwezi have charged and arrested a director of Getrace Engineering and Construction limited for obtaining K106, 000 cash by false pretences and other fraud related cases.

North-western province Commissioner of Police, Eugene Sibote confirmed the development to ZANIS in Solwezi and identified the suspect as Grace Yonkola, aged 42 of house number 1844 Kandundu Extension in Solwezi.

Mr Sibote said Ms Yonkola, between  November 22 and   November 30, 2013, whilst acting together with others unknown, obtained K106, 000 cash from Focus Financial Services in Solwezi on pretext that she had supplied 20,000 x 8 inch blocks to Kansanshi Mine plc when in fact not.

He said police have also arrested Alex Phiri, 44, of house number 302 Luangwa Township in Kitwe for forging a Kansanshi mine date stamp.

Mr Sibote said Ms Yonkola has also been charged and arrested for three counts of uttering false documents, one count of making false documents, two counts of fraud and two counts of forgery.

He said Ms Yonkola has also been charged and arrested together with others known for making false Kansanshi mine plc purchase orders number 104472 and 27790 and a headed paper purporting it to be a legitimate document when in fact not.

The police added that on January 7, 2014, Ms Yonkola, together with her husband, were found with a forged Kansanshi mine date stamp which police retrieved from their bedroom.

Mr Sibote said the suspect was also found in possession of two computers, a flash disc, a printer and scanner as well as a Kansanshi mine headed letter without lawful authority.

He said Ms Yonkola will appear in court soon.
