PEOPLE’S Democratic Party leader George Mpombo says the electorate in the Solwezi West by-election have an opportunity to redeem themselves if they elected PF candidate Martin Mbaya.
And President Edgar Lungu has commissioned a K 15 million first level Lumwana Hospital in the newly created Kalumbila District.
Addressing people at Musele Park yesterday, Dr. Mpombo said since winning the 20th January, 2015 presidential election, President Lungu had proved to be a committed leader in national unity and development.
“President Lungu has demonstrated his passion for a better Zambia and a progressive developmental agenda by the many times he has visited this region. He wants to take this province out of the abuse of the opposition by making you people work with Government and enjoy national development,” Dr. Mpombo said.
He said President Lungu had the capacity to turn the untapped fortunes across the country for the sake of developing this region.
Dr Mpombo said President Lungu had already demonstrated the love for the province by ensuring that the Chingola-Solwezi road was worked on in time.
He said it was shameful for opposition leaders to describe as politically oriented the construction of various projects dotted across the country and particularly in North Western Province.
“There projects started before the presidential by-election and President Lungu has shown his desire to unite this country in many ways. Don’t attribute the failures in the past to President Lungu, judge him from what he has done so far. I can earnestly tell you that he is on track and he needs a good team,” Dr Mpombo said. Ends
And President Lungu said the hospital facility in Kalumbila which had been built at a huge cost should be guarded jealously by the locals. He said it would be sad if the facility would not benefit the local people, adding that it should cater for over 13 health centres in the region.
“I am so grateful to see this hospital officially commissioned today. We started the construction of this facility in 2008 and when we formed government we made it a priority to commission it,” President Lungu said.
President Lungu said he would ensure that his Government addressed the challenges the new health centre was facing.
