A KITWE man has told the Kitwe Magistrate’s Court that he assaulted his wife because he found her drinking beer in a bar.
Appearing before magistrate Kampinda Chipamu on Wednesday was Frank Mambwe, 38, a bricklayer of house number 2016 Buchi township, facing one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
When the matter came up for plea, Mambwe told the court that he understood the charge and pleaded guilty.
“Your honour, I slapped my wife on her mouth because I found her drinking beer in a bar instead of her being at home,” Mambwe said.
Mambwe is alleged to have assaulted Mercy Nawakwi on June 27, this year, in Kitwe, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
Magistrate Chipamu adjourned the matter to today, for written facts.
In the same court, a 22-year-old man of Kitwe has pleaded guilty to assaulting his sister.
This is a case in which Cletus Longe of Kapoto township pleaded guilty to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
Longe told the court that on the day in question; he had a fight with other family members, and in the process accidentally stoned his sister.
Particulars of the offence are that Longe, on July 1, this year, in Kitwe, assaulted Priscilla Mutale, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
Magistrate Chipamu recorded a plea of guilty and adjourned the matter to today for written facts.
