The Ministry of Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education has taken over the registration of private schools.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Education Minister Michael Kaingu says the function was early this year delegated to the Teaching Council of Zambia which became operational in January this year, but has reverted back to the ministry.
Mr. Kaingu says the ministry will continue from where the Teaching Council of Zambia has left from and that all the applications submitted through the Council remain valid and will be finally processed by the Registrar of Private schools under the ministry of Education.
He has advised schools which have not yet paid relevant fees to the Teaching Council to do so with the ministry’s accounts department.
Mr. Kaingu explains that the registration and accreditation of colleges of education will continue with the Teaching Council of Zambia.
Mr. Kaingu further states that to this effect the registration period has been extended to 30th June 2015.
Please let sanity be there. We suffer too much noise with private schools within residential areas, you complain to city council no action is taken because of corruption. Unplanned structures all over the yard.
Who was doing the registration then!!
