Mufumbwe District Commissioner Mankishi Mukokwe has called on youths in the country to dialogue with government on issues affecting them.

Ms Mukokwe said young people should not take part in violent activities but instead work with government to address the issues affecting them among them unemployment.

Ms Mukokwe said young people must always engage in productive activities like entreprenuership and skills that would see them contribute to the national economy.

The District Commissioner (DC) was speaking in Mufumbwe today during Youth day commemorations held at the Civic centre square.

The 2015 Youth day was being celebrated under the theme  “The Youth Building a Stable and Sustainable Future”.

Meanwhile, Ms Mukokwe has bemoaned poor dressing habits among youths in the district saying this had the potential to promote wrongdoing among young people.

Ms Mukokwe further assured that government remained committed to completing developmental projects in the district for the benefit of young people.

"As government we are going to ensure that we finish all developmental projects like the boarding school and clinics so that young people can benefit," she said.

Ms Mukokwe also assured that government in partnership with the community will soon launch Mufumbwe Community Radio Station.

She said the facility will not only create employment for young people but also address the challenge of lack of information on national issues in the district.

And youth Representative, Barbara Chipango said youths lack adequate information on how to access empowerment funds.

Ms Chipango called on government to decentralise the youth fund and conduct continuous sensitisation programmes over its disbursement modalities.

She also called on government to set up recreational facilities in Mufumbwe in order to prevent young people from engaging in bad vices like beer drinking and illicit sex.

Ms Chipango stated that currently youths in the district were engaging in bad vices due to lack of suitable activities for them to engage in.
