Kalomo Council Chairman happy with Sata’s ministerial appointment

Kalabo, Feb 4/15 ZANIS——Kalabo District Municipal Council Chairman, Luke Katongo, has commended President Edgar Lungu for appointing Lusaka Mayor, Mulenga Sata, as State House Minister.

Mr Katongo told ZANIS in Kalabo today that the appointment of Mr Sata would bring the much-desired change in councils because he understood the operations and problems of Local Government, especially that he is also the Local Government Association of Zambia president.

He said Mr Sata’s current position was influential and hoped that he would seriously look into the issue of councillors’ allowances especially in rural areas where local authorities have low revenue collection.

Mr Katongo, who is also Luanginga Ward Councillor, further explained that it was currently difficult for councillors to get their allowances locally, adding that the coming on board of Mr Sata as State House Minister would change things.

He also hoped that the President would   continue on the late President Michael Sata’s promise of building a University and a Stadium in Western province.

Mr Katongo was, however, optimistic that Mr Lungu would live up to his campaign promises of continuity on late President’s dreams.
