Eastern province electorate urged to cast their votes en-mass


Chipata, January 16, 2015—-The Provincial administration in Eastern

Province has advised people in the Province to ensure they go to cast
their votes to elect a new President next Tuesday.

 


Assistant Secretary Beenzu Chikuba said people must participate in the
Presidential election as it is their democratic Right.


Ms Chikuba said in an interview this morning in Chipata that there is
need to keep calm and ensure continued peace in this transition
period.


She stressed the need for Zambia to continue with the peace that she
has enjoyed in the last 50 years.


Ms Chikuba appealed to all well-meaning Zambians to maintain the peace
by avoiding violence ahead of the poll.

The Assistant Secretary noted that the province will next Sunday host
interdenominational prayers for peaceful election in the polls that
will be held next Tuesday.


She said the prayers will be held at the Reformed Church main branch
in Chipata district.


Zambia goes to the polls to elect a new President next Tuesday
following the death of President Michael Sata who died in London in
October last year.
