Government says it desires to see Zambian artistes perform competitively and win awards at international level.
Minister of Tourism and Arts Jean Kapata said government wants to see the local artistes rise to prominence on the continent.
Speaking when she launched the Song of Africa competition in Lusaka last night, Ms Kapata said music is an expressive language which has remained at the centre of Zambia’s culture and way of life.
Ms. Kapata expressed optimism that Zambia’s participation in the Song of Africa competition will cement her bond with other African countries.
And Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) president Njoya Tembo said the association is happy that government has introduced measures such as the hologram to curb piracy and promote Zambian music.
Song of Africa is a prestigious annual competition for African Artists and Zambia is participating at the event for the first time.
