21 Mbala road traffic accident victims discharged
Mbala, November 18th, 2014, ZANIS —- Twenty one out of seventy one victims of the Mbala road traffic accident that claimed 27 live s of people last Saturday have been discharged from Mbala general hospital.
Mbala General Hospital Acting Medical Superintendent, Brian Mwansa told the District Commissioner, Best Kabulembe who visited the hospital this morning confirmed the development in an interview today.
He added that the remaining patients are all in stable condition.
Dr. Mwansa said medical doctors who have been mobilized from Ndola and Kitwe Central Hospitals are on the ground attending to road traffic accidents victims admitted for serious injuries that require theatre attention.
And Mr. Kabulembe has commended the Mbala General Hospital management and staff for their quick response to attend to the survivors resulting in preventing more deaths to happen.
Mr. Kabulembe has also thanked government for providing coffins and food stuffs as the situation was unbearable to the bereaved families.
He further thanked Sarhan Salim popularly known as Salaan, the proprietor of Great Lakes Products and Cereal Millers and Farms for donating 54 x 25kg of mealie meal and 270kg of fish towards the funeral.
The DC has also announced tomorrow Wednesday as the day of burial of the 27 bodies that died on the spot on Saturday when the vehicle they were traveling in over-turned on the Mbala – Nakonde road.
