Irate farmers storm Mkushi DC ‘s office over pay
Mkushi, November 18th, 2014, ZANIS — Concerned Farmers in Mkushi, today stormed the Office of the District Commissioner demanding to be paid their money owed to them by the Food Reserve Agency for the maize they supplied.
The Irate farmers lamented that since the 2014/2015 rainy season has started and they needed to start acquiring inputs for the next farming season.
They insisted that the delay in paying them would have dire consequences as they will be unable to effectively plan for the farming season.
And in his address to the farmers, Mkushi District Commissioner, Luka Mwamba, sympathized with them for the delay in receiving their money.
Mr.Mwamba called on farmers to remain calm, as the government was doing everything possible to pay them what was owed to them.
The District Commissioner assured the farmers that they would all be paid their money before the end of the month.
The D.C told the farmers that they had done their part by working hard and supplying the F.R.A with maize and it was the duty of Government to pay them their money.
job well done farmers.
