The Zambian Voice has vowed to make sure that the issue of the constitution becomes an agenda item during the presidential election campaign.

Executive Director Chilufya Tayali in a statement issued today says his organization will urge electorates, especially young people, to vote for a candidate that will guarantee the constitution before 2016.

Mr Tayali says his organization will not accept anything less than a new constitution.

He states that with the passing away of President Michael Sata and the imminent Presidential election in January, 2015, his organization will make sure that the issue of the new constitution becomes an agenda item.

Meanwhile Mr Tayali says his organization’s quest to have the courts review the appointment of Dr Guy Scott as acting President has been frustrated due to the political machinations of individuals with vested interests in the matter.

He says they have come to realize that this potential, public interest court case has attracted lots of political interest and divergent opinions.

Mr Tayali says efforts to take the case to court are being hindered by people with various interests, some of whom are in the legal fraternity.

He however, says The Zambian Voice will continue pursuing the case in the interest of constitutionalism and good governance.
